Scout Gillett's guitar and voice, much like her mentor Sharon Van Etten, have the ability to touch the heart. I had the chance to see play live at the Zebulon in Los Angeles. There was barely light on stage so I'm glad I brought some 3200 ISO film to capture her raw performance. She's one of my favorite artists this year.
Later in March, Scout went back and played the cozy Genghis Cohen. I came back to see her with a full band. Again, it was an intense and beautiful performance.
